Facts. The facts were stipulated. On May 19, 1966, the plaintiff-appellant, James R. Smith, was a passenger in an automobile involved
in a one-car accident. Plaintiff was injured. He was treated in a civilian hospital by a civilian doctor. The next day he
was transferred to Great Lakes Naval Hospital where he was confined for a number of months. As a member of the United States
Navy, plaintiff was entitled to medical care in the navy hospital. The cost of plaintiff's treatment in the civilian hospital
was $158.60. The value of services in the navy hospital was $2,341.40. The total value of services paid for by the United
States government was $2,500.
